Emilie Hallard

Emilie is the author of the photobook Les corps incorruptibles and the founder of Maria Inc.

Emilie Hallard (She/They, France, 1979) lives and works between Barcelona, London, and Paris.

Her work initially took the form of a diary, before evolving into artivism. Her interests are now focused on portraiture, anti-racist transfeminism, gender studies, and body representations.

Emilie has taken part in a collective exhibition at the MACBA (Museum of Modern Art of Barcelona) and has also been seen in Belgium, Spain, France, Myanmar, Sweden, Switzerland, and Tunisia. Her solo show Les corps incorruptibles, with support from the French Institute network, is touring Spain until September 2023.

Emilie’s passion for photography can be seen in Maria Inc, her curatorial and publishing project that helps artists publish their first photobook and receive international visibility. She was also the co-founder of Visual Art and Photo Festival Caja de Luz (Spain), and Le PhotobookFest (France). For the past years, Emilie has been a jury member for the La Nuu Photo Festival (Spain) as well as a panel member in photography conferences in Belgium, France, and Spain.

She teaches the following workshops The intimate portrait, Rebuilding an Inclusive Postcolonial Gaze with Lizette Nin, Self-publishing of Fanzines, and ¡Saca tu pluma! with Emilia Celoria.
